Breast reconstruction after breast cancer treatment has gained in importance in recent years; the surgical spectrum has been expanded by reconstruction forms with autologous tissue from the abdomen, which can be performed gently using microsurgical techniques.

AESTHETIC MEDICINE complements our range of surgical services with treatments and therapies in the aesthetic, non-invasive field. With the latest methods of wrinkle correction, many things can be corrected in the early stages without surgical methods, for example with botulinum toxin and/or wrinkle injections with hyaluronic acid preparations or autologous fat. Peeling removes pigment spots and improves the skin structure. Unwanted hair on the face and body can be permanently removed with laser epilation.

HAND SURGERY, formerly part of plastic surgery and now an independent specialty, is offered in our clinic exclusively by specialists in hand surgery. The treatment area of hand surgery includes all disorders that affect the function of the hand, i.e. changes in tendons, vessels, joints as well as nerves, which can be constricted at various points. Acute injuries, congenital malformations, nerve diseases and tumors as well as rheumatic diseases are treated.

Hyunju Kim Haemmig, MD. Specialist for Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery FMH

Hyunju Kim Haemmig, M.D., completed her medical studies at the Universities of Fribourg and Bern and completed them with stays abroad at Yonsei University Hospital, Dep. of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (Prof. Park and Lee) in Seoul, South Korea, among others.

After several years of training in general surgery at Tiefenauspital Bern (Dr. Birrer) and Kantonsspital Aarau (Prof. Schlumpf), she completed her residency in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery at Kantonsspital Aarau under Prof. Meuli and graduated in 2015.

From 2015 to 2018 she worked on the Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at the Inselspital Bern (Prof. Constantinescu) as a senior physician.

Kim, MD, obtained the European Board of Specialization in Plastic Surgery (EBOPRAS) in 2012 and the Swiss Board of Specialization in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery FMH in 2015.

She is married and mother of two children. German and Korean are her native languages; she is fluent in English and French.

Prof Dr Kalbermatten studied in Bern ( MD),Boston, Manchester (MPhil) and Umea (PhD). He trained as a plastic surgeon in Bern, Lucerne, Basel, Manchester and Lausanne. Since 2008, he has held the university teaching license for plastic surgery at the University of Basel. PD Dr. Kalbermatten has been practicing in Bern since 2004 and at the Klinik im Spiegel since 2009.
