About 17 years ago I entered Esra D'Amato's beauty salon être belle for the first time - not suspecting that a friend for life was waiting for me behind that door.

Anyone who has the pleasure of a personal conversation with her will discover: Esra is a force of nature. The oriental beauty with Turkish roots radiates a liveliness, warmth and playfulness that one encounters far too little in everyday life. I have rarely met a person who is as unbiased as she is. While others - including myself - are sometimes hard on people they don't know, Ezra is open to everyone. I admire this quality in her and over the years of our friendship I have been able to take a few slices from it.

"I love working with people and doing something good for them. être belle is about being beautiful, yes. But it always means inner and outer beauty. It has always been my concern to bring body, mind and soul into harmony. This is also reflected in the services I offer," Esra explains when I ask her why she decided to become a beautician at a young age and open her own store in Solothurn's old town in 1993. The entrepreneur and mother of a son also loves to live out her creativity freely - whether as a make-up artist, jewelry designer or painter.
